The ancestry of Elizabeth (PORTER) JOHNSON is abstracted from
"The English Ancestry of Edward Porter of Roxbury, his Sister
Elizabeth (Porter) Johnson, and their Cousin, Ellizabeth (Dowell)
Payson," by Douglas Richardson (NEHGR 158:45-60). The "Allott/Allett
Family" appears on pages 53-57, and the "Plomer Family"

Morgan Allott
Morgan ALLOTT - b. about 1520; bur. Jun. 10, 1566, Ware,
Hertfordshire. Morgan's will, dated May 17, 1566 and proved Jun.
19, 1566, requested burial in the churchyard at Ware, Hertfordshire,
and named his wife and children Robert and Elizabeth. Morgan was
first married about 1545, and had two children. He was married
second Aug. 22, 1558 at Ware Hertfordshire to Alice EGERTON.

Robert and Joan Allott
Robert ALLOTT - b. about 1550; bur. Mar. 21, 1596/7,
Ware, Hertfordshire. Son of Morgan ALLOTT.
Robert's will, dated Feb. 13, 1596/7, requested burial in the
churchyard at Ware, Hertfordshire, and named his wife and three
daughters. Robert was married about 1577.

- Sarah - bap. Dec. 15, 1577 Ware, Hertfordshire; bur. Oct
9, 1607, Ware, Hertfordshire. Sarah was married Sep. 21, 1603
at Ware, Hertfordshire to Thomas SKINGLE. Thomas was married
second Jan. 20, 1607/8 to Phillipa WATTS (bur. Jul. 23, 1615,
Ware, Hertfordshire). Probable child of Sarah and Thomas: Elizabeth.
- Joan - bap. Feb. 28, 1579/80, Ware, Hertfordshire. Joan was
married May 23, 1597 at Ware, Hertfordshire to Thomas DOWELL
(poss. bur. Aug. 11, 1648, Great Amwell, Hertfordshire). Children:
Robert; Katherine; Thomas died young; William died young; Joan
died as infant; Elizabeth married Giles PAYSON of Roxbury, MA;
and Susan.

Rev. Robert and Margaret (Plomer) Porter
Robert PORTER - b. about 1547, England; bur. Feb. 21,
1623/4, Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire. Robert's will, undated
and proved Mar. 17, 1623/4, called himself 'parson' and named
his son William. Robert matriculated at Cambridge University at
Easter, 1563: BA 1566/7, MA 1570, and BD 1577 from Trinity College.
He was ordained deacon of Ely Sep. 21, 1567, and priest of Lincoln
May 8, 1569. Robert was rector of Langham, Essex 1571-2, vicar
of Standon, Hertfordshire 1572-5, and rector of Watton-at-Stone,
Hertfordshire until his death in 1624. Married about 1575.
Margaret PLOMER - b. about 1547; bur. Oct. 30, 1610,
Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire. Sister of Elizabeth, who married
Andrew GOODMAN alias MANNE, and of Grace, who married first John
CONWAYE/CONNAWAY, and second Matthew GLADWIN. Margaret's father
may have been Gyles PLOMER (b. about 1515; d. before 1591).

- William - bap. Jun. 23, 1583, Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire.
- Adrian - bap. Feb. 13, 1585/6, Watton-at-Stone,
Hertfordshire; d. after 1623/4.
- John - bap. Jul. 9, 1587, Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire;
bur. Nov. 10, 1597, Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire.
Adrian and Elizabeth (Allott) Porter
Adrian PORTER - bap. Feb. 13, 1585/6, Watton-at-Stone,
Hertfordshire; d. after 1623/4. Son of Robert
PORTER and Margeret PLOMER. Adrian was married second by Mar.
1617 to Agnes/Annis (bur. Jan. 17, 1630/1, Ware, Hertfordshire),
the mother of his sons John and William. Agnes wrote her will
Dec. 22, 1630 (proved Mar. 1, 1630/1), in which she named her
sons John and William, and step-daughters Elizabeth and Susan.
Adrian was married first Apr. 28, 1606 at Ware, Hertfordshire.
Elizabeth ALLOTT - bap. Mar. 17, 1582/3, Ware, Hertfordshire;
bur. Mar. 28, 1617, Ware, Hertfordshire. Daughter of Robert
ALLOTT and Joan.

- Edward - bap. Mar. 5, 1608/9, Ware, Hertfordshire; d. 1677,
Boston, MA. Edward's will was dated Jul. 28, 1677 and proved
Aug. 3, 1677. He married first Oct. 1, 1632 at Chelmsford, Essex
to Anne ELLIOTT, who signed a deed with her husband on Jun. 13,
1674 at Boston, MA. Anne was probably related in some was to
Rev John ELLIOT (1604-1690) minister at Cambridge, MA and Hartford,
CT. Edward and Anne, with two children, came to America in 1636.
He became a freeman May 17, 1637 at Roxbury, MA, and moved to
Boston, MA about 1655. Edward married second Mrs. Rhoda GORE
REMINGTON (b. about 1610; d. 22 Aug. 1693, Roxbury, MA. She was
the widow of John GORE and of John REMINGTON, and after Edward's
death she married fourth Joshua TIDD of Charlestown, MA. Children
of Edward and Anne: John; William married Elizabeth HAWKINS;
Elizabeth married Joshua NASH; Hannah married Fathergone DINELEY;
Mary married Peter BENNET; Joseph died young; and Deborah.

MA. Married Isaac JOHNSON.
