Edward MORRIS - bap. Jan. 22, 1631/2, Great Amwell, Hertfordshire, England; d. Sep. 14, 1690, Woodstock, CT. Son of Edward MORRISON and Prudence HEATH, sister-in-law of Capt. John JOHNSON. Edward immigrated to America Feb. 23, 1652/3 and settled at Roxbury where he was constable (1664), selectman (1674-1687), and deputy to the General Court (1677-1687). One of first settlers of Woodstock, CT, where he was selectman (1688 to death) and first military officer. Married Nov. 20, 1655, Boston, MA by Richard Bellingham, Deputy Governor.

Grace BETT - d. Jun. 6, 1705, Roxbury, MA. All the children of Edward and Grace were baptized by Rev. John Eliot.

1. Isaac - b. Sep. 16, 1656, Roxbury, MA; d. Oct. 21, 1715, Roxbury, MA. Married first Mar. 2, 1680, Roxbury, MA Hannah MAYO (b. Feb. 16, 1660/1, Roxbury, MA; d. Nov. 5, 1701, Roxbury, MA) daughter of John MAYO and Hannah GRAVES; and second Nov. 3, 1702, Roxbury, MA Mary RUGGLES (b. Dec. 11, 1666, Roxbury, MA; d. about 1741), daughter of Samuel RUGGLES and Hannah FOWLER, and widow of Ebenezer PIERSON. Isaac was in Capt. Isaac JOHNSON's Co. in the Great Swamp Fight. No children.
2. Edward - b. Mar. 10, 1658/9, Roxbury, MA; d. Aug. 29, 1727, Woodstock, CT. To Woodstock, CT 1690; selectman; surveyor; assessor, and auditor. A deacon for 22 years. Married May 24, 1683, Roxbury, MA Elizabeth BOWEN (b. Jan. 26, 1660/1, Roxbury, MA; d. Nov. 20, 1743, Woodstock, CT), daughter of Lt. Henry BOWEN and Elizabeth JOHNSON. Children: Elizabeth died in infancy; Elizabeth married John BARTHOLOMEW; Hannah married Samuel HEMINGWAY; Edward married Bethiah PEAKE; Grace married Joseph PEAKE; Abigail married; Susanna; and Prudence.
3. Grace - b. Feb. 7, 1660/1, Roxbury, MA; d. Dec. 10, 1723, Roxbury, MA. Married Mar. 7, 1682/3, Roxbury, MA Benjamin CHILD, Jr. (b. 1656, Roxbury, MA; bap. there Feb. 27, 1658/9; d. Jan. 24 or 26, 1723/4, Roxbury, MA). For children of Grace and Benjamin, refer to CHILD line.
4. Ebenezer - b. Apr. 14, 1664, Roxbury, MA; d. Feb. 26, 1717/8, Woodstock, CT. Married Sarah DAVIS (bap. Feb. 22, 1673/4, Roxbury, MA; d. 18 Apr. 1741, Woodstock, CT), daughter of Joseph and Sarah (CHAMBERLAIN) DAVIS. Children: Sarah; Mary married; Margaret married; Ebenezer married Sarah KILLAM; Joseph married; Joshua died in infancy; Joshua; Elizabeth married; and three other children.
5. Elizabeth - bap. Mar. 25, 1666, Roxbury, MA; d. Mar. 6, 1752, Roxbury, MA. Married Mar. 9, 1685 Joshua CHILD, son of Benjamin CHILD and Mary BOWEN. Refer to Benjamin CHILD family for details.
6. Margaret - b. Sep. 25, 1668, Roxbury, MA; d. Aug. 12, 1750, Woodstock, CT. Married Dea. John JOHNSON.
7. Samuel - b. Mar. 19, 1670/1, Roxbury MA; d. Jan. 9, 1745, Killingly, CT. Married first about 1693 to Mehitable MAYO (b. Jan. 6, 1668/9, Roxbury, MA; d. Feb. 8, 1702/3) daughter of John and Hannah (GRAVES) MAYO. He was married second on May 15, 1706 at Marlborough, MA to Dorothy (MARTIN?) HOWE (d. Jul. 29, 1742, Killingly, CT), probably the widow of Joseph HOWE. Samuel and Mehitable had seven children, and Samuel and Dorothy had two children. Sons: Samuel married Abigail BRAGG; and Benjamin married Hannah HOSMER.
8. Martha - b. Jan. 30, 1674/5, Roxbury, MA; d. May 9 1756, Woodstock, CT. Married Jan. 6, 1714/5, Woodstock, CT Dea. William LYON (b. Sep. 15, 1675, Roxbury, MA; d. Sep. 27, 1741, Woodstock, CT), son of John LYON and Abigail POLLEY.
