Jann LaValley <glavalley@johnabbott.qc.ca> Feb. 2000: The official sources don't seem to know who his parents were but our list member Michel Robert has done some very clever detective work and believes that his parents were Geoffroy Guillot-dit-Lavallée and Marie d'Abancourt. Jane Lavallée Kenn and I have both read his research and are convinced that he is correct.

It is hard to give the exact date of his arrival in Canada; however an act in the register of Trois Rivieres shows that on 7 Dec. 1639, he was the godfather of a little Algonquin. He received a fief with the title of "Sieur de Mesle". On March 9, 1654 he sold two arpents in frontage by forty-four deep to Pierre Paradis. Seven Children. A baker.
