1346. Maj. William Emery Mason (Willard7, Willard6, Ebenezer5, Jonas4, John3, John2, Hugh1). Born Hartford, Maine, on 25 Apr 1828. Died New Bedford, Mass., on 27 May 1905. Residence: New Bedford, Mass. Data from Mason.

Mr. Mason served in the Civil War, enlisting September 22, 1862. He recruited two companies in New Bedford, Co. E, 9 mos., 58th Regt., and went as 1st Lieut., and Co. E, 58th Regt., 3 yrs., and participated in the battles of Kingston, Whitehall, Goldsboro, Wilderness, Spottsylvnia, North Spring, Cold Harbor, Sotopotomy, Petersburg, Welden Railroad, Popular Spring Church, Fort Sedgewick and Fort Mapone, discharged July 14, 1865, as Major. He was a charter member of Sutton Commandery, organized in New Bedford, 1864, and a Knight Templar.

He married Frances Cornelia Tripp, daughter of Francis Tripp & Amy Russell, on 15 Dec 1851 in Boston, Mass. Born New Bedford, Mass., on 4 Sep 1835. Died New Bedford, Mass., on 14 Sep 1897. Data from Mason.
