He first married Rebecca Perley, daughter of Abraham Perley & Rebecca Humphrey, on 6 Apr 1843 in Portland, Maine. Married by Rev. Samuel E. Brown. Born Gray, Maine, on 14 Aug 1816. Died Portland, Maine, on 14 Sep 1871. Data from Mason.

i.  Ellen Eugenia. Born Portland, Maine, on 2 Mar 1844. Died Arlington Heights, Mass., on 5 Dec 1926. Data from Mason.
Miss Mason was greatly interested in Home Missions Work. For over ten years she was in The Little Wanderer's Home, Boston, then with the Lawrence (Mass.) General Hospital, two years matron of Sherborn, Mass., Reformatory Prison for Women, and more than ten years matron of Somerville, Mass., Day Nursery, and was remarkably successful in the several positions. A member of the Boston Monday Evening Club, Somerville Daughters of Maine, Daughters of the Revolution, also Conference of Charities and Correction, and a Baptist in her religion.

Joseph B. Mason is listed as having puchased land in Portland, April 1856, and July 1856, and having sold land there, June 1867. He is listed in the Portland directory 1850, not after 1867.
