1072. Reuben Simons Mason (Adelphia Coburn6, William Bond5, Joseph4, Joseph3, Joseph2, Hugh1). Born Adams, Wahington Co., Ohio, on 8 Dec 1837. Died North Olmsted, Ohio, on 27 Jan 1919. Residence: Washington Co., Ohio. Data from Mason.

Reuben S. Mason served in the Civil War. Volunteer for three Years, mustered into Co. D, 63d Reg't., O.V.I., October 2, 1861, at Camp Putnam, Marietta, Ohio. Was made captain of Co. D, October 16, 1861, and transferred to Co. F, 63d Reg't., O.V.I. He was at the Siege of Island No. 10 and New Madrid, Mo., March 1862, also Siege of Corinth, Miss.; in command of the company at Battle of Iuka, Miss., September 19, 1862, and Corinth, October 3 and 4, 1862, where the regiment lost sixty-seven per cent of its numbers; with the regiment at the Battle of Parker's Cross Road, Tenn., December 31, 1862; detailed to help organize colored troops at Corinth, May 18, 1863; mustered sergeant June 10, 1863, major of regiment, U. S. C. I., October 10, 1863, and was assigned to duty as orderly sergeant, Co. G, 55th Reg't.; was in command of that company at Battle of Trenton, Miss., June 10, 1864. June 12, 1864, he was disabled by a shell, captured and taken to Andersonville, Ga., and September 22, was exchanged at Rough and Ready, Ga. Second lieutenant May 10, 1864.
Reuben Mason was a farmer. He joined the Baptist Church at Lowell, Ohio, December 8, 1855, and April 4, 1857, was granted a letter and then joined the Christian Church.

He married Luceta Louisianna Stacey, daughter of John Stacey & Louisa Frost, on 25 Mar 1858 in Union Township, Washington Co., Ohio. Born Union Township, Washington Co., Ohio, on 19 Aug 1832. Died Relief, Ohio, on 26 Feb 1908. Data from Mason.

She married William Wallace Allison, son of Lucien Allison & Christiann Penwell, on 7 Sep 1886 in Relief, Washington Co., Ohio. Born Beverly, Ohio, on 13 Aug 1857. Died living November 1933. Data from Mason.

1073. Oscar Fitzalan Mason (Adelphia Coburn6, William Bond5, Joseph4, Joseph3, Joseph2, Hugh1). Born Adams, Ohio, on 23 Apr 1839. Died near Driftwood, Okla., on 14 Jun 1901. Residence: Lowell, Ohio, and Driftwood, Okla. Data from Mason.

Mr. Mason served in the Civil War, enlisting for three years, mustered as private in Co. D, 63d Reg't., O.V.1., October 2, 1861, at Marietta, Ohio. He participated in the advance on New Madrid, Mo., and capture of Island No. 10, and March 1862, in the advance on Corinth. From there he was sent to the field hospital and then to the general hospital, Columbus, Ohio, where he was discharged October 4, 1862, owing to disability.
He joined the Baptist Church December 15, 1855, later united with the Christian Church.

He married Sarah Catherine Earich, daughter of Michael Earich & Catherine Rogers, on 18 Oct 1866 in McConnellville, Ohio. Born Morgan Co., Ohio, on 15 May 1846. Died Norman, Okla., on 22 Dec 1901. Data from Mason.

Mr. Mason served in the Civil War, volunteered January 18, 1864, for three years and joined the I. O. Light Artillery, Battery C. Mustered out June 15, 1865, and participated in Sherman's march to the sea.

He married Lucetta Valinda Mason, daughter of William Mason & Rosannah Cook, on 21 Jul 1867. Born on 30 Sep 1850. Died Marietta, Ohio, on 19 Sep 1913. Data from Mason.

Mrs. Mason is a descendant of William Mason, who was at Redstone, Pa., 1796.

She married Dr. James Hamilton Jr., son of James Hamilton & Agnes Dalgelish. Born Pettaconsett, Cranston, R. I., on 28 Jan 1883. Data from Mason.

Dr. Hamilton graduated Brown University, 1906, Yale University Medical School, 1910, and is Fellow of American College of Physicians. He served in the World War for twenty-six months, Major, Base Hospital 93; now (1934) Colonel in Medical Reserve Corps.

She married Frederick Owen, son of Allison Owen, on 31 Dec 1868. Born Noble Co., Ohio, on 15 Sep 1845. Died Hoopeston, Ill., on 9 Oct 1902. Data from Mason.

Mr. Owen served in the Civil War, entering August 8, 1864, private, Co. L, 74th Ohio Vol. Inf., discharged June 28, 1865, having served ten months. Mustered into G.A.R., at HOOpeston, October 22, 1886.
