Mr. Mason was a "Forty-niner" and the first time he went to California he sailed around the Cape and on his second trip he corssed the Isthmus on mules. He was a merchant and had one of the first stores in Berlin. Selectman, 1855.

He married Ann Janet Howard, daughter of George Washington Howard & Lucy Bean, on 5 Oct 1856 in Berlin, N. H. Born Hanover, Maine, on 6 Sep 1836. Died living January 1932. Data from Mason.

Mr. Mason served in the Civil War, a soldier from Berlin in the New Hampshire Volunteers, 14th Regt., discharged September 13, 1865. He built the first fiber mill in Berlin.

He married Priscilla Coffin, daughter of Greenlief Coffin & Polly Bean, in Berlin, N. H. Born Bethel, Maine, in 1842. Died Millinocket, Maine, in 1911. Data from Mason.

Killed by a fall over a precipice while riding horseback.

He married Eliza Jane Farrington, daughter of Rev. Samuel Farrington & Susannah, in 1863. Born Andover, Maine, on 8 Mar 1847. Died Milton, Mass., on 26 Mar 1932. Data from Mason.
