Mr. Parish was a construction expert and gained wide recognition for his reconstruction work in Tokyo, Japan, after the earthquake and fire in 1923. He was placed in charge of erecting the Japanese General Electric Company building and also the Mitsui Bank building, the largest structure in the world used exclusively for banking purposes. He introduced American methods of construction and was highly praised by the Japanese government for his work. His most recent work was supervising the construction of the new buildings in Washington for the Department of Labor and the Interstate Commerce Commission, the cornerstones of which were laid at ceremonies attended by President Hoover and several cabinet members.
