425. Col. John Allen Mason (Thaddeus5, John4, Daniel3, John2, Hugh1). Born Barre, Mass., on 10 May 1802. Died Watertown, Mass., in 1872. Data from Mason.

John A. Mason was a letter cutter and smith. He early settled at Shutesbury, Mass., as a tavern keeper, in 1828 he moved to Barre and in a year to Rutland, then to Stowe, then Weston, where he was commissioned colonel of third regiment of infantry, in 1841 to Waltham where he was living in 1863, all in Massachusetts.

He married Charlotte Rice, daughter of Josiah Rice & Betsey Hooker, on 30 Mar 1826 in Waltham, Mass. Data from Mason.
