"Ebenezer Mason Jr. Spencer, Descriptive list of men raised to reinforce the Continental Army for the term of 6 mos. agreeable to resolve of June 5, 1780, returned as received of Justin Ely, Commissioner, by Brig.Gen. John Glover, at Springfield, July 7, 1780; age 19 yrs.; stature 5 ft. 9 in.; complexion light; engaged for town of Spencer, marched to Camp July 7, 1780; under command of Capt. Dix; also, list of men raised for the 6 mos. service and returned to Brig.-Gen. Paterson, as having passed muster in a return dated Camp Totoway, October 25, 1780; also, pay roll for 6 mos. men raised by the town of Spencer for service in the Continental Army during 1780, marched from home July 5, 1780; discharged December 12, 1780; service 5 mos. 16 days; including travel (180 miles) home; also, Private, Maj. William Mason served in the War of 1812-1814.
About 1790 he constructed the tan works near Blanchardsville and carried on the tannery and currying business till 1820, then sold out to his son, William Mason, and purchased a farm.

Joseph Mason was a tanner and currier. He moved to Granby and back to Spencer where he purchased the homestead and was town treasurer, 1816 to 1821 inclusive.
