She married Benjamin Gates Jr., son of Benjamin Gates & Bethulia Rice, on 21 Oct 1762 in Westboro, Mass. Born on 27 Nov 1737. Died Barre, Mass., on 11 Feb 1797. Buried Barre, Mass. Served in the Revolutionary War. Data from Mason.

Benjamin Gates Jr. was a blacksmith by trade, but most of his life kept the "Gates Tavern" at Barre, where the Colonists were wont to meet and discuss their wrongs suffered under British rule. He was also active in town affairs and a member of the Congregational Church. He responded to the Lexington Alarm, April 19, 1775, then joined a regiment and remained in the service at the Siege of Boston, commissioned a Lieutenant, commanding a company in Col. Rufus Putnam's regiment at New York. Upon Col. Putnam's recommendation he was commissioned a captain, July 18, 1776, was at Stillwater, 1777, and resigned January 13, 1778.

Joel Bent marched to Cambridge upon receipt of the news of the Concord Fight, commissioned Captain in the 7th Regiment, Massachusetts Militia, July 1, 1781. He was active in town affairs, selectman, 1781, 1782, 1795, 1798, 1801, town clerk, 1796, 1803, 1809, 1810, moderator, nineteen years, representative to the Geneeral Court, 1801-1804.
