He first married Electa Ann Wright, daughter of Edwin Wright, on 30 Mar 1860 in Brattleboro, Vt. Born Northfield, Mass., on 3 Apr 1839. Died Somerville, Mass., on 27 Nov 1911. 

She was the cousin of Martha Wright, mother of Charles Gordon Johnson, who has contributed so much to this work.

They had one child:

He second married Bessie Champney, on 12 Sep 1893 in England. Born Bristol, England. Died Waterloo, Iowa, on 12 Jan 1929.

He was graduated from Dartmouth College with the class of 1874. While living in New London, Wis., he was a member Of the State Legislature. He lived about 45 years at Ladysmith, Wis., where he was manager of the Menasha Woodenware Company's business. They lived at Traer, Iowa; New London and Ladysmith, Wis.

He married Carrie L. Foster, daughter of Edwin L. Foster & Diantha, on 30 Aug 1877 in Rutland, Vt.
