He first married Margaret Rice, daughter of John Rice & Sarah Bicknell, on 20 May 1821. Born Brookfield on 20 Sep 1795. Died on 29 Jun 1825.

They had the following children:

ii.  Sarah R.. Born on 21 Mar 1824. Died on 15 Dec 1824.

He second married Eliza Whiting, daughter of Daniel Whiting & Phebe Whitton, on 18 Mar 1827. Born Hingham, Mass., on 22 May 1802.

She married Samuel Stevens, son of Jeduthan Stevens & Rozanna Church, on 10 Oct 1816. Born on 19 Sep 1795. Died N. Adams, Mich., on 22 Jun 1870.

Samuel was married second on November 5, 1829 to Mary Pickard, widow of Perley Johnson. Removed to North Adams, Mich. in 1837. Children of Samuel and Mary: George, born Jan 21, 1831; Roxanna, born Mar 29, 1833; Samuel E., born Mar 10, 1835; Henry, born May 6, 1837, died young; Harriet F., born Nov 23, 1843; and William J., born Feb 21, 1846.

They had the following children:

He married Delinda Edmands, daughter of Samuel Edmands & Lucy Matthews, on 30 Apr 1826. Born on 29 Sep 1798. Died on 28 Nov 1887.
