He first married Ruby Yale, daughter of Uriah Yale & Eunice Merwin, in Mar 1815. Born on 30 Sep 1793. Died Canaan, Conn., on 21 Feb 1826.

She married George Root, son of Enoch Root & Hannah Cary, in Mar 1817. Born Canaan Mountain (South Canaan, Conn.), in Sep 1788.

Settled in Johnston, Ohio, and soon after, their log cabin burned. He married 2nd Jan. 11, 1843, Julia Holcomb.
