437. Mehitable Johnson (Hamlin6, Joseph5, Joseph4, Isaac3, Isaac2, John1). Born on 30 Oct 1749. Baptized 1st Church of Middletown, Conn., on 11 Apr 1756. Died Middlebury, Vt., on 8 Dec 1833.

She married Jacob Bartholomew, son of Daniel Bartholomew & Sarah Johnson, on 17 Jan 1770. Born Wallingford, Conn., on 11 Jun 1740. Died Salisbury, Vt., on 5 Sep 1813.

Jacob was the inventor and early manufacturer of platform scales.

They had the following children:

vi.  Hitty. Baptized on 15 Jun 1783.
vii.  Daniel. Born on 16 Feb 1788. Died on 10 Jun 1849.

438. Christopher Johnson (Hamlin6, Joseph5, Joseph4, Isaac3, Isaac2, John1). Born on 2 Jan 1755. Died N.Y. City, on 2 Jan 1823.

The children listed of Christopher, son of Hamlin, are found in other sources as being children of a Christopher, son of a Hamlin, descending from Edward Johnson of Woburn, Mass., so all the descendants of these children may *not* belong to Captain Johnson's family.

He first married Mary Austin, on 15 May 1777. Born Torringford, Conn. Died Salisbury, Vt., on 17 Jun 1801.

Phebe died at age 90.

Resided at Canaan, Conn., Castleton, Salisbury and Middlebury, Vt.

She married John Deming, son of James Deming & Anna Kilbourne, on 28 Oct 1784 in Kensington, Conn. Born Newington on 4 May 1762. Died Crown Point, N.Y., on 26 Jul 1815.

They had the following children:

She married Beriah Green, on 21 Jan 1821.

Hamlin had a slaughter house on King Street, Burlington, Vt.
