Robert WINCHELL - b. England; d. Jan. 21, 1669, Windsor, CT. Emigrating to Dorchester, MA by 1634 (freeman 1635) with wife and eldest son, he removed about 1638 to Windsor, CT where he acquired about 50 acres of land. His wife, whose name is not known, died at Windsor CT on Jul. 10, 1655.

David WINCHELL - bap. Oct. 22, 1643, Windsor, CT; d. 1723-1724, Suffield, CT. Son of Robert WINCHELL. Moved to Suffield, CT about 1677, the last record of him at Windsor being a contribution for the relief of families due to King Philip's War in 1676. No evidence has been located to support the contention that David WINCHELL married Mary GRIFFIN as his second wife (see "David-2 Winchell (Robert-1) of Suffield, Conn.," by Mrs. Albert H. Chase in TAG 24:49-50 for the evidence showing that David's single marriage and Mary (GRIFFIN) WILSON HOSKINS two marriages). David married Nov. 18, 1669, Windsor, CT.

Elizabeth FILLEY - b. Mar. 4, 1649/50, Windsor, CT; d. Jun. 23, 1728, Windsor, CT. Daughter of William FILLEY and Margaret.

He married at Suffield, CT on Jan. 2, 1700 Sarah TAYLOR. 8. Jedediah - b. Dec. 29, 1690, Suffield, CT; d. Suffield, CT. Married 1710 Thankful SMITH (b. May 13, 1692) of Suffield, daughter of Samuel SMITH and Joanna MCLATHLIN. Thankful was a first cousin to Ebenezer SMITH, who married Jedediah's niece Christiana OWEN.

John OWEN - b. Dec. 25, 1624, Wales; d. Feb. 18 (or 1?), 1698/9, Windsor, CT. His gravestone by the Congregational Church in Windsor reads "John Owen aged 76 years dyed February ye 18th: 1698." However, Windsor town records indicate he was born Dec. 25, 1624, and died Feb. 1, 1698/9. John may have been at New Haven, CT in 1642, but was certainly at Windsor in 1650 when he purchased a lot 12 rods by 29 rods, and married. He signed a petition to establish Killingworth in 1663, was sexton of the meeting house in 1666, was paid for clapboarding for the meeting house in 1668, and contributed to the poor in 1676. One source reports he was the son of Richard OWEN and Johanna PITT. He married Oct. 3, 1650 at Windsor, CT.

Rebecca WADE - d. Dec. 3, 1711, Windsor, CT. Possibly the daughter of Henry WADE and granddaughter of Richard WADE (b. about 1579, Dorestshire, England; d. CT) and Elizabeth (b. about 1574, England). Another source indicates she was the daughter of Robert WADE, probably the brother of Henry. Robert WADE was living at Dorchester, MA in 1635, and moved to Hartford, CT in 1639, and to Norwich, CT in 1660. Robert divorced his wife Joane, then living in England, on Aug. 12, 1657 after a fifteen year separation.

1. Josiah - b. Sep. 8, 1651, Windsor, CT; d. Sep. 11, 1722, Windsor, CT. He removed to Simsbury by 1682, but returned to Windsor about 1697. He married first at Windsor, CT on Oct. 2, 1674 Mary OSBORN (b. Apr. 16, 1655; d. Aug. 6, 1689), daughter of John OSBORN and Ann OLDAGE. Josiah married second Sarah. Sarah, widow of Josiah, married at Simsbury, CT on Jan. 17, 1722/3 Nathaniel HOLCOMB, son of Thomas and Elizabeth. Children of Josiah and Mary OWEN: Josiah married Mary HOSFORD; Isaac; Mary married Enoch PHELPS; Abigail married Samuel CLARK; Esther probably died young; Elizabeth married first Samuel THRALL, and second Samuel CASE; and Lt. John married Hannah MARSHALL. Daughter of Josiah and Sarah: Rachel married Samuel PHELPS.
2. John - b. Nov. 5, 1652, Windsor, CT. Died in infancy.
3. John - b. Apr. 23, 1654, Windsor, CT; d. Jan 15, 1670, Windsor, CT.
4. Nathaniel - b. Aug. (or Apr.?) 9, 1656, Windsor, CT. He married first at Windsor, CT on Jun. 14, 1694 Mary GAYLORD (d. Jan. 23, 1696), and second on Feb. 22, 1698 Sarah PALMER (b. Apr. 12, 1675; d. Apr. 25, 1731), daughter of Timothy PALMER and Hannah BUELL. Children of Nathaniel and Sarah OWEN: Hannah; Sarah married Nathaniel GILLETT; Nathaniel married Mary GRISWOLD; Anne probably died young; Abner died in infancy; and Anne (or Ami).
5. Daniel - b. Mar. 28, 1658, Windsor, CT; d. Mar. 1, 1682/3, Windsor, CT. He married on Jan. 24, 1681 Mary BISSELL (b. Feb. 22, 1659), daughter of John BISSELL and Isabel MASON. Son of Daniel and Mary OWEN: Daniel did not marry.
6. Joseph - b. Oct. 23, 1660, Windsor, CT; d. between 1735 and 1746, Lebanon, CT. In 1683 he settled at Simsbury, returned to Windsor in 1692, and moved to Lebanon in 1703. About 1683 he married Esther. Children of Joseph and Esther OWEN: Ann; Joseph married first Mary, and second Ruth; Moses married Hannah MANN; Joshua married Margaret WOODWORTH; Caleb married Elizabeth BREWSTER; and Aaron married Miriam WRIGHT.
7. Mary - b. Dec. 5, 1662, Windsor, CT; d. 1750, Westfield, MA. She married at Windsor, CT on Oct. 3, 1681 Nathaniel WILLIAMS (b. Oct. 25, 1647, Windsor, CT; d. 1711, Westfield, MA), son of John WILLIAMS and Mary BURKLY. Children of Mary and Nathaniel WILLIAMS: Mary; Abiel; Rebecca; Elizabeth; John; Nathaniel; Abigail; Hannah; Zebedee; John; Keziah; Naomi; and Orpha.

Obadiah OWEN - b. Dec. 12, 1667, Windsor, CT; d. Oct. 11, 1751, Windsor, CT. Son of John OWEN and Rebecca WADE. His name appears in several land transactions in 1695 and 1697 at Windsor; he received 11 shillings bounty for service against Canada in 1709; he was exempted from paying poll tax in 1735 due to disease in his legs. Obadiah married Sep. 21, 1693 at Windsor, CT.
