Established in 1983, the purpose of the DFAW, as stated in the quarterly Newsletter and in the Articles of Incorporation, is "to record and perpetuate the history and genealogy of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, their families, and their descendants."

Membership is open to all lineal descendants of persons who are listed in the Founders List of the DFAW as having settled in Ancient Windsor by the end of 1640, and to any other person who supports the purpose of the DFAW. Verification of a lineage from a Founder is not a requirement for membership. However, members who submit a lineage from a Founder and who have that lineage verified will be issued a Certificate of Descent from a Founder.

There are currently over 750 members of DFAW, who have submitted over 2300 lineages for verification. For contact information try The Hereditary Society Community.

This is only a partial listing of possible qualifying ancestors. If you have evidence that one of your ancestors "settled in Ancient Windsor by the end of 1640," check with the society to confirm that you have a qualifying lineage.
