Smith assumed security for Hester Haselrigg due administration in 20,000 pounds of tobacco. Jno. Carpenter, Robt. Rose and Jos: Beale ordered to appraise the estate of Tho: Haselrigg on Monday next and that Coll. Perce swear the appraisers. [31 March 1680]

William Hasleridge was arrested to answer Wm. Kemp and Hester his wife. Kemp and Hester his wife by Robert Brent their attorney say that Thomas Hazleridge late of this county, late husband of Hester, in his lifetyme was seized in his demesne as of fee of a tract in the forrect of Nomony containing fifty acres, by vertue of which there accrued a right of dower out of the premises to Hester. But Wm. Hasleridge has possessed himself of the land and detaines the dower of Hester. Wm. Kemp as haveing married with Hester pray he may be ejected.
The defendant saith he is possessed of a tract of land as the plaintiff declared, but that Wm. Kemp and Hester his wife have no right or claime to the land for that Hester had sold her right of dower as hee was ready to make appeare.
It appeared to the Court that the plainteff had right of dower in the land abovementioned and for that the defendant could not make it appeare that Hester had aliened the same, ordered that Hester Kemp have her dower assigned to her. [25 May 1692]

Richard Hazlerigg, eldest son of James Haslerigg, made oath that James departed this life without makeing any will soe farr as he knowes and believes. Certifycate is granted him for obtaining letters of administration, George Brown and William Brown assumeing to be securitys for his due administration.
