Richard and Hopestill are mentioned in the will of Isaac HATHAWAY,
brother of Hopestill. Resided at Dighton, Bristol Co., MA in 1712
where 4 children were born 1721-1731, and at Berkeley, MA in 1735.
Married in MA, probably about 1720.
Hopestill HATHAWAY - b. about 1694, probably in Bristol
Co., MA. Daughter of Isaac HATHAWAY
and Mary PITTS.

of Richard Wood and Hopestill Hathaway. Benjamin
HATHAWAY, first cousin of Richard's mother, was at Morristown
during the same period (refer to HATHAWAY line). Richard, a blacksmith,
renewed the covenant at First Presbyterian Church of Morristown
Mar. 20, 1748. His first wife, Sarah (b. about 1727; d. Jan. 16,
1749, Morristown, NJ), was mother of Hopestill, Ahijah, and Samuel.
Sarah had been baptized and renewed the covenant on Feb. 24, 1744.
Richard married second about 1749 at Morristown, NJ.
Rebecca - d. after Sep. 19, 1756 (the date she renewed
the covenant at the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown, NJ,
as a widow).

and Sarah. Removed to Fayette Co., KY by 1770. Built Fort Bryant
near current site of Lexington, KY. Married about 1763 Mary Jane
MORESON (or MORRISON) (b. about 1747; d. Sep. 21, 1834, Keene,
KY). Children: Samuel married Polly HIGHSMITH; Jonathan married
Margaret INMAN; Abijah married Sarah LANDCASTER; Sarah married
Mr. HUDSPATH; Elizabeth married Mr. VAN CLEAVE; Catherine married
James HIGHSMITH; Mary married Mr. FROST; Richard married Esther
RICE; Martha; and possibly Christopher.
